Cutting Costs On Landscaping
People have been trying to find ways to save money on their landscaping during Covid-19. Yeah, we get that. In these difficult times, it’s hard to keep ahead. Landscaping seems like something you can do without, or perhaps something you can do yourself. While you have to save money as best you can, we’ve seen some really bad ways of doing it.
Landscaping Is Critical
If you’re a business, you can’t underestimate the value of of good landscaping. It’s the first impression people get of your company. They see it from the road as they’re driving by. We all say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but we do anyway. If your landscape job doesn’t look good, people will think it reflects the way you run your business. You can’t afford to let your business’s lawn be poor quality.
Less Isn’t More This Time
To try and save money, we’re seeing some of our customers ask us to come in less often. This does save a little money, but we’re finding it’s really not a viable strategy. Without regular landscape maintenance, the yard around your business can fall into disrepair quickly. When that happens, we either have to spend more time (and end up charging more money) to get it back in shape. The end result is that you just don’t save any money in the long run. On top of that, in the long stretches between our visits, the landscape gets out of control and looks terrible.
What Can You Do?
You can’t go too long without some kind of landscaping maintenance, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t ways to save. We do our best to make sure absolutely everything gets done as good as it can be. We take pride in doing so, but it’s not necessary to keep the landscape just looking good. There are many elaborate techniques we do that can be cut out of the process. We’re finding it’s better to scale back the extent of the work we do rather than come less often. That way, we can make sure the most important stuff gets done and the lawn looks good, while you get to save money.
Other Ways to Save Money

This moisture sensor can make sure your sprinklers don’t water when they don’t have to
There are other ways to save money besides cutting back on landscaping. Smart irrigation techniques and proper watering practices can help you reduce the amount of water you use without needing letting your lawn dry out over the summer. With the right tools, you can make sure you aren’t wasting water, which will save you a lot of money on your water bill.
It may cost a little bit of money to get these tools up front, but the relatively small cost saves a lot of money in the long-run. You also won’t have to worry about being laughed at or stigmatized for running your sprinklers while it’s raining, or worry about facing fines for using too much water. It’s definitely a worthwhile investment.
